Everyday we start the day with an opener about reading and language/grammar use. If the students do not finish that, they are return them the next day.
Next we will do a word sort of our spelling words.
We will be Independent Reading and Reading in our small groups.
We also will work on punctuating conversation.
Tuesday
Class Openers-Editing and also Compare and Contrast
We worked on appositives. The students watch a power point presentation and found uses of appositives in trade books.
Listened to a story Sally Jean the Bicycle Queen. Students then looked for words to describe the character Sally Jean and reasons they could prove the description.
Students then looked for words to describe their favorite character from their book club.
Wednesday-Class openers. Editing sentences and using context clues.
We looked for words that would help us describe our favorite characters from the books we have been reading. We then looked for proof in our reading that would justify the words we had chosen.
Completed a worksheet using the different grammar rules we have learned-quotation marks, direct address, appositives, commas between city and state, and capitalizing proper nouns.
